This is the first article placed in the Mountaineer awhile back, for those who don’t get the local paper.
Your homecoming committee, comprised of Randy and Amber Beaudette, Daren and Tracy Schuster, Demrece and Harvey Keller, and Mark and Patti Gasvoda, has set the dates and selected a theme for Homecoming 2010. The advanced notice will allow you to schedule your vacation; design a float for your class, organization, or buisness; and make plans for this long awaited event. The Homecoming parade is always nostalgic and outstanding, and with a theme as broad as “Going home…to the place where I belong.” the floats will be very diverse. Something completely new this homecoming will be a concert planned for the evening of Saturday the 19th. All ages will enjoy this hilarious, action packed, ’50s and ’60s rock and roll band that has been generously donated for our entertainment. Yellowstone Kelly’s from Billings will once again be serving their delicious meals. They were anxious to come back and see us and hopefully visit with our own Senator Tester. You will eventually be able to register online with Paypal at www.bigsandyhomecoming.com . You will also be able to find old classmates and friends and see how homecoming plans are progressing. Be sure to tell friends and family from out of town about this too. To help us contact all alumni, please notify us of any address changes of yourself, family or classmates. If there are any suggestions, ideas or comments, about what you would like Homecoming 2010 to be, please let us know.
Congratulations committee on what I think is an outstanding idea and presentation on the postcard/logo! If that doesn’t catch people’s attention in their mail then they must be blind! Looking forward to the big event. Doug

Got my postcard - Thanks! I’m glad to be helping with the newest edition of the Homecoming Book. I hope this site will be a great channel for receiving information about the history of our schools in the Big Sandy area. We’ll focus on two things: the buildings that have been of service to the district over the years and the people who have served the district since it was established. We’d like a complete collection of pictures (or at least a short description and dates of service) of each building from the old dorms to the outbuildings on the football field, from the country to town, and a picture, and (at least) names and dates of service of each member of the faculty and staff. Other information could include the current use of the building if it still exists, who built it, or what happened to it if it’s gone now. All material will be handled with care, but if you want it returned you must send it with whatever it needs to come back to you. Watch this website for more information!! Good to see a site up and running! We have marked our calendars for that week to come and partake in the festivities. Homecoming is always a great fun filled weekend with good friends and good food. Hope to see you all there!
