Homecoming 2010

Happy New Year

Well, 2010 is finally here and Homecoming is bearing down upon us. We have learned one thing in the past year or so and that is that no one on the committee is a blogger, but hopefully this web site will be more active in the next few months.

Our little hometown is starting to show the stirrings of Homecoming preparations. The past few years have been pretty unsettled here with a new fiber-optic phone system in town as well as in the rural area and a major sewer improvement project last summer. Main street has seen some changes since last Homecoming as well. A new park, a removed building (the old Lehfeldt, Jungers law office) and most exciting, the big store is back in use. The Bear Paw Coffee Shop and Deli is about to open in the old drug store spot. Thanks to Steve and Cheri ( Beirwagen) Stiles. Many other improvements around town have been occurring. Okay maybe they aren’t all because of Homecoming but we like to think some of them are.

We are getting very close to opening up registration for Homecoming 2010. In January we will be sending out a letter with the schedule of events and a mail-in registration form. We will also open the on-line registration at the same time. We have the weekend laid out basically the same as in the past, why mess with perfection. However, we are still open to suggestions. There have been many events that have been talked about that haven’t been finalized yet, such as a softball tourney. We feel that about anything is fine with us if the interest is there, but we do need to be contacted ahead of time so we can make sure it doesn’t conflict with other events and also to publicize it.

In an effort to have as many people register as possible, we have kept the basic price for preregistration the same as last time. As expected, the price of the meals has increased as well as most other things that go along with homecoming. However, because of the amazing generosity of one individual, the band for the Saturday street dance has been donated, we have been able to keep the registration price down. The price of extra meals, as well as tee-shirts and other items available through Homecoming Committee reflect the increases we have encountered. We do need everyone to register to keep the future prices down and keep Homecoming going. Our numbers are decreasing as the graduating classes of BSHS get smaller, so the more people to register, the better for all of us.

In the months leading up to Homecoming 2010 we will be having an alumnus of the week. Look for these in the Mountaineer and on this site. Again suggestions are welcome.
We would like to remind everyone if there is a family member or classmate that you would like to have included in the memorial pages in the homecoming book, please get in touch with Corinna (Ophus) Bahnmiller, 406-378-2352 or corinebean@hotmail.com . Also, we are very interested in getting as many old photos of your high school days and extracurricular activities. We are also looking for photos of alumni that look like their fathers/mothers, either now or then. We will have some of these on a gallery page on this site, on display around town at Homecoming or used during the Saturday program. You can email them to the committee, the address is found above, or mail us a copy, we would rather not have the responsibility of keeping track of your actual family heirlooms.
The 2010 Homecoming Committee hopes everyone is getting as excited about this June as we are.

  1. Thanks for the update. I’ll be watching for the registration papers. I have a suggestion–how about posting the names of those who register and the year they graduated? It’d be nice to see who all is registering in advance.

Their state of the art equipment and professional staff are already on the job and wish to make this the best booklet we’ve ever had! Please thank them for being here.

More will be coming to this blog in the days and weeks to come - stay tuned!!

  3. Great to see the Pioneer spirit expanding into the web. Looks like the committee has really worked hard and deserves a “Rousing”, standup, “Thank you” from all the classes. You have covered all the items that we have enjoyed in the past Homecomings, plus you have added new items for the younger classes. My family is looking forward to the whole deal when June rolls around.
